I started out exposing Tri-X and Kodachromes in the early 1970s, and have been fooling around with photography ever since.
I soon abandoned Tri-X because the darkroom chemicals turned my finger tips chain-smoker-brown, and - for some odd reason - my black and white prints never looked quite as good as those by Ansel Adams. Besides that, I had fallen in love with color.
The focus of most of my work has been landscapes and details of the natural world, but I am also interested in exploring architectural, cultural, and industrial environments.
Presently I'm based in southwest Missouri, where I was "born and raised" - but I have also lived in Wenatchee Washington, Scottsdale Arizona, and Hyde Park New York. Many of my photos were taken while traveling by bicycle, car, canoe, or on foot in the western United States, Canada, and Europe.
TECHNICAL - so far, my work has been all film - mostly Ektachromes made with 35mm Pentax equipment. I scan the transparencies with a film scanner, then post-process with Photoshop on a Mac.
LEGAL - I retain all rights to my images, and none may be downloaded, printed, or used for any purpose without my permission.
